The Chelsea Superior School Class of 1971 held its 50th superior school reunion recently, and a common encounter joined them from significantly absent. 

Alba Lucia Pelaez came to Chelsea Superior College from Colombia as a foreign exchange student for 18 months thanks to a scholarship from the Civitan Club. 

When she to start with arrived, she spoke no English and invested time mastering the language and tradition, and in the slide of 1971 began having her courses to graduate with a diploma. 

“It was a good expertise,” Pelaez recalled. “When I went back to Colombia, I was happy to say that I graduated in the U.S. It was a very exceptional possibility. This was my very first vacation again to Chelsea in 50 yrs. I haven’t been again since I graduated.”

Her daughter designed the trip with her and was happy she did and was proud of what her mother did all people decades in the past. 

Though so significantly time experienced passed, Pelaez explained she and her friends however appreciate just about every other immediately after 50 yrs and said quite a few of the women have been like sisters to her. 

“These girls, I used a large amount of weekends in their residences,” she claimed. “It was a lovely memory that I under no circumstances missing.”

Ruth Hartley, a member of the course of 1971, reported Pelaez came into their class a few months right after she discovered English. 

“She started out in the drop of 1971 and graduated in 1972, but we claimed her,” Hartley reported.  

Above the reunion weekend, some of the users of both lessons fulfilled at Lloyd’s cafe on Friday evening for a shock welcome party for Pelaez. On Saturday, Might 29, the reunion was held at the Weldon Pavilion at the Chelsea Sports activities Complex.
