I know the unspeakable pain that mothers and fathers of children killed through Tuesday’s Texas school shooting are going through appropriate now. I also know what they will endure for the rest of their lives.
My son, Dylan, my beautiful butterfly, was ripped absent from me in the Sandy Hook Elementary University capturing virtually 10 years ago. That day I sent him to university, and he under no circumstances arrived house.
My heart bleeds for the mom and dad whose little ones are not coming home and for the families of the adults who also will not likely be coming dwelling. I’m confused with compassion for the Robb Elementary School community that will hardly ever be the same since of the void left by 19 innocent young children and two adults.
Each time there is a tragedy like this, I am re-traumatized.
I relive the murder of my son, his classmates and educators. The sadness and anger are crushing.

Approximately a ten years after my devastation, additional mothers and fathers are heading through comparable devastation – victims of gun violence. Sadly, this tragedy is only the hottest in the dozens of mass shootings since Sandy Hook.
With each new tragedy, I experience compelled to help, to supply comfort. As I publish these words, I am ready to vacation to Uvalde, Texas, to see if I can be of any use to Robb Elementary School families and the Uvalde community. I will try to talk them through the unimaginable darkness of this minute. And permit them know that though it will solid shadows over the relaxation of their life, even in the shadows, there can be hope.
