Vietnamese exchange university student dies weeks following currently being hurt in Saginaw County crash

SAGINAW, MI — Practically a thirty day period just after she was associated in a two-car or truck crash in Saginaw County, a Vietnamese trade university student has succumbed to her accidents.

On May well 22, sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash site at the intersection of North Center and Pierce roads in Kochville Township. They arrived to uncover a Honda passenger automobile and a Pontiac Grand Am experienced collided.

The Honda contained four Saginaw Valley Point out University trade students from Vietnam. A backseat passenger, 22-year-old Phuong Thi Nam Trinh, endured everyday living-threatening injuries that required hospitalization.

Trinh died at Covenant Healthcare hospital in Saginaw on June 13, deputies confirmed.

“It was terrible,” explained Sheriff William L. Federspiel. “It’s such a tragic, tragic case. Right here she is in our country heading to university and she will get wounded. She’s on her deathbed and her mother and father are attempting to get right here, and I don’t know if they ever did.”

Deputies decided the Honda had been westbound on Pierce Road when it turned left into the path of the northbound Grand Am. The Grand Am was pushed by a 17-calendar year-aged Saginaw Township male, deputies explained.

Deputies do not believe that alcoholic beverages or medicines had been elements in the crash. No citations have been issued and he investigation report is being sent to the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Place of work for critique.

Trinh was a senior at SVSU and was majoring in accounting. She was to graduate in December.

“She was pretty associated at SVSU, as the two-time president of the Global College student Club, a Vitito Fellow, an Global Orientation Chief, and a volunteer with Passport to the Environment,” SVSU published on its Facebook website page. “Phuong was incredibly committed to her time here at SVSU as a university student, a mentor, and a mate. She will be remembered by a lot of.”

An on-campus memorial services is to consider area in early September.
